Sheikh Abdulla bin Muhammad Ibrahim
President
A respected Islamic scholar and community leader from the Maldives, he is known for his contributions to Islamic education, community development, and the promotion of ethical, halal-friendly tourism initiatives. He also serves as Head of the Sharia Board of the International Halal Tourism Organization (IHTO), providing guidance on Islamic principles and global halal standards. Through his leadership and public engagement, he continues to support responsible tourism initiatives aligned with Islamic values.

Ibrahim Muhammad
Vice President - Finance
A Member of Parliament and public figure from the Maldives, he is recognized for his contributions to public service, community engagement, and the development of responsible tourism initiatives. As Vice President of the International Halal Tourism Organization (IHTO), he supports the promotion of ethical, halal-friendly tourism and international cooperation within the global halal travel industry.

Mohamed Bassam Adam
CEO / Vice President - Certification
Mohamed Bassam Adam is a Maldivian tourism and business professional with over 25 years of experience in tourism, hospitality, aviation, and international business development. He previously served as Deputy Managing Director and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation, and most recently as CEO of the Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) before co founding and joining the International Halal Tourism Organization (IHTO). He also served as COO of Lets Go Maldives Pvt. Ltd., where he played a key role in introducing aviation services and strengthening both B2B and B2C tourism segments.
As CEO and Vice President – Certification of IHTO, Mohamed contributes to the advancement of global halal tourism standards, responsible travel initiatives, and international industry collaboration. He is also the CEO of Reinvent.mv and actively consults tourism-related businesses, travel agents, tour operators, hospitality ventures, and investors. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management from OTHM, UK.

Ahmed Mihad
Secretary General
Ahmed Mihad is an education and training professional from the Maldives with a background in business, marketing, and corporate strategy. He holds a Master’s degree in Corporate Strategy and Governance from Nottingham University Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Marketing from Coventry University.
As Secretary General of the International Halal Tourism Organization (IHTO), he contributes to strategic initiatives promoting halal tourism and international collaboration. He also serves as Dean of the Fenaka Institute for Training and Research, supporting professional education and workforce development in the Maldives.

Ali Nahiz
COO | Director Innovation and Business Development
Ali Nahiz is a Maldivian entrepreneur and hospitality professional with over a decade of experience in business development, tourism, and international franchise operations. He holds an MBA Global from the University of Bedfordshire and has held leadership roles across hospitality, resort operations, and large-scale business management in the Maldives.
As COO and Director of Innovation & Business Development of the International Halal Tourism Organization (IHTO), he contributes to strategic growth, innovation, and sustainable business initiatives within the halal tourism sector. He is also the COO of Manhattan Grand Hotel and Managing Director of Holiday Night Pvt Ltd, playing a key role in introducing and managing international hospitality franchises in the Maldives.

Sheik Nimal Mohamed
Shariah Board Representative to the Executive Committee
Sheikh Nimal Mohamed is a distinguished Islamic scholar, academic, and Shariah expert with extensive experience in Islamic jurisprudence, higher education, and community development. He holds a Master of Arts in Shari’ah from the Maldives National University and a Bachelor of Arts in Shari’ah from the Islamic University of Madinah.
Throughout his career, he has held several senior academic and leadership positions, including Dean of the Kulliyya of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences at the Islamic University of Maldives, University Council Member, and Lecturer in Shariah, Islamic Studies, and Arabic Language. His contributions to academia, curriculum development, and Islamic research have established him as one of the leading Islamic education professionals in the Maldives.
Beyond academia, Sheikh Nimal has actively contributed to the advancement of Islamic knowledge and community welfare through religious lectures, workshops, counselling services, and educational outreach programmes across the Maldives.
As a member of the IHTO Shariah Board and its representative on the Executive Committee (EXCO), Sheikh Nimal provides strategic guidance on Shariah governance, Islamic ethics, and Halal tourism standards. His expertise helps ensure that IHTO's policies, certification frameworks, and global initiatives remain aligned with authentic Islamic principles and international best practices.
